UC Science Olympiad Invitational:
This is an organization that is dedicated to creative problem solving, providing accessible STEM literacy, and challenges students through its annual high school invitational tournament.
Why I joined this organization:
Throughout high school, I have participated in Science Olympiad. Throughout my journey, I have gained varied experiences that have helped me develop several skills. Science Olympiad is an excellent way to challenge yourself and apply knowledge to form innovative solutions. With this in mind, a small group of Science Olympiad alumni as well as myself wanted to help create an opportunity for high school students from various districts to come together to participate in an invitational hosted at out university. While being a part of this event, the students will also have the opportunity to explore University of Cincinnati’s campus and may consider themselves prospective students at UC.
What I learned from the UHP Student Leader Roundtable:
I have truly gained a lot of support and meaningful advice throughout my experience in the UHP Student Leader Roundtable. During a time when many of us do not have much contact with friends and classmates, this opportunity has been a great way to collaborate with other leaders around campus. One of the best things to know was that I wasn’t the only one having a hard time navigating through certain issues I have encountered as a leader. More importantly, the UHP Student Leader Roundtable has served as a way for all of us to come together and come up with innovative solutions to the problems we face as leaders. I have been able to gain insight in several new aspects during out discussions. Some things that were the most impactful for me include our discussion on ways to boost our own morale as well as others and ways we can involve general body members so that leadership transitions can become smoother. Overall, I have learned so much during our discussions and will be taking back a lot of new ideas to incorporate into not only my leadership role but also other organizations I am involved in.
