Culminating Reflection

  • SACUB - UC: Student Advisory Committee on the University Budget is a group of 25 diverse students across the campus that advise on the spending of the general fee across various areas of campus and help enhance the bearcat student experience

  • Why I joined SACUB and what I do: I had joined SACUB back in freshman year of college and am still proud to be a member as a 5th year. I got an opportunity to serve as the International student representative, followed by at large member and finally as the Chair of the committee. Being a part of SACUB helped me bridge the gap between students and administration and serve as the voice of students to the higher authorities.

  • What I learned from the UHP Roundtable: The UHP Roundtable played an important role in navigating the current situation of the student orgs given the pandemic. Due to COVID, the university had a huge cut in their budgets including the general fee and as a SACUB member, that made the work challenging for me and other members of the committee as we had less money going to different areas of campus. It was helpful to identify through UHP roundtable what the student leaders are interested in and bring that perspective to SACUB that helped allocate the money further. UHP round table also helped me meet other student leaders across campus that I didn't get to meet in person given the online format.
