3rd Year Vocal Performance and Neuroscience Student
NeuroSociety and Opera Club (President)
When I received an invitation to join the Leadership Roundtable, I was excited for a space to talk about the technicalities of student organizations during this time. Organizational leadership is something that I value a lot and this was a really great space to get to talk about questions, quandaries and victories during this time.Getting to exchange ideas with other student leaders about fostering student engagement, creating meaningful programming, and keeping communication within a club running smoothly was really important for me. During this semester, I was rebuilding structures in my organization with a brand new exec board, and this roundtable kept me motivated in my efforts. I am currently the president of NeuroSociety and Opera Club. NeuroSociety is a lecture based forum where different speakers in the neuroscience disciplines share their research and career/ life insight. Opera Club was founded just last year and is currently on a slight hiatus, but this organization seeks to empower undergraduate voice majors and opera lovers in creating student run events and concerts.
I would definitely recommend the continuation of the Student Leadership Roundtable. During my time at the UH leadership roundtable, I gleaned a whole new appreciation for the student body of UC and the amount of creativity and resilience it contains. I learned a lot about effective media use, club member communication and organizing events, and I got to bring these conversations back to my own exec board. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to meet other inspired students from all disciplines, and I know that the present and future of UC is bright!
